The State of Louisiana in the United States has awarded Motorola Solutions (NYSE: MSI) a 10‑year contract worth USD 139 million. The procurement covers mobile video solutions, digital‑evidence‑management systems and command‑centre technologies, alongside upgrades to the state’s land‑mobile‑radio network. Under this project, government agencies statewide will roll out Motorola Solutions’ body‑worn cameras, in‑car video equipment and real‑time situational‑awareness software to comprehensively boost statewide public‑safety response capabilities.
Lieutenant Colonel Robert Burns of the Louisiana State Police commented: "After a nine-month comprehensive assessment of public-safety technologies, state leadership has concluded that migrating from a fragmented multi-vendor ecosystem to a unified integrated solution is the right decision. This partnership will connect six state-level departments across Louisiana's 64 parishes to Motorola Solutions' unified platform. It will break down data silos completely, enable front-line emergency responders to share intelligence in real time, cut down response times and better safeguard community safety."

Next-Generation Mobile-Video and Digital-Evidence-Management System

Previously, details collected on-scene by field officers often diverged from information available at dispatch centres. By feeding footage from body-worn cameras and in-car video directly into real-time operations centres, Louisiana's command staff will gain a clearer holistic view of incidents.
Additionally, police officers spend up to 40 % of their working hours on administrative paperwork. Built-in tools within the new digital-evidence-management system can automatically complete video redaction, audio-to-text transcription and incident-report generation, substantially freeing up officers' time for actual patrol duties.

Modern Smart Radios and Network-Infrastructure Upgrades

This agreement extends operation-and-maintenance plus system-upgrade services for the Louisiana Wireless Information Network (LWIN) for another ten years. It guarantees stable services for over 109,000 users during daily operations, major emergencies and extreme-weather events. The new framework agreement also allows participating agencies to procure Motorola Solutions' next-generation D-Series infrastructure according to future requirements for high-resilience communications.
Participating agencies will also deploy brand-new smart radios equipped with real-time language-translation functionality. The devices can effectively reduce officers' workload and ensure clear, smooth communications across the whole state.

Scope of Participating Agencies

Participants in the project include the Louisiana State Police, Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, Department of Public Safety and Corrections, Probation and Parole Board, Office of Juvenile Justice, plus the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
